This post is all about 20 ideas for decorating kitchen counters that will get you inspired!

1. Cozy Up That Counter Corner With a Lamp
When looking for ideas for decorating kitchen counters, I bet lamps don’t immediately come to mind. But they should because they’re absolutely adorable in the kitchen!
Plus on a countertop that feels a little cold, a lamp is the perfect piece of decor to make it feel warm and homey. And one of my favorite ways to decorate a kitchen counter corner!
2. Incorporate an Adorable Kitchen Towel
Adding an adorable kitchen towel to your decor is such a brilliant idea. Since you already use a kitchen towel almost every single day, why not pick one that makes it feel like it is incorporated into your decor? Styling your kitchen counters can also be for functionality!
This specific towel is simple but stylish with the tassels on the end. How cute is that?
3. Sink Simplicity
When you’re trying to get trendy with it, take a long hard look at your kitchen sink. Sometimes this is where the biggest headache comes from a design perspective.
Kitchen sinks commonly have bulky drying racks, and a million and a half cleaning products around them. Find a way that works for you to keep things simple.
For the decor around my kitchen sink, I have amber glass soap dispensers with these labels – one for dish soap and the other for hand soap. Then I have my scrubber. All on top of this elevated mango wood pedestal from McGee & Co. When it comes time to dry dishes, I have this exact extra large silicone mat that I store in one of my cabinets.
4. Moody Kitchen Counter
No one said you had to have a light and airy kitchen! And that’s exactly what this kitchen counter decor idea is all about.
Incorporate moody, dark tones into your kitchen. Black is an excellent color to work with in order to pull off this look. The black cutting board is so creative – definitely not used to seeing that in the kitchen!
5. Don’t Overthink It
One of the best pieces of advice for decorating your kitchen countertops is to not overthink it! It’s completely okay to take inspiration from others who inspire you and make it your own.
So when you see a really adorable design set up, feel free to try and replicate the idea in your own home. You can even do this with pieces you may already have!
6. Fruit Can Be Decor Too
One of the most overlooked yet extremely accessible ideas for decorating kitchen counters is none other than a bowl of fruit. Chances are, you already have all of the right ingredients to achieve this look! Or you will next time you go grocery shopping lol.
All you need is an adorable bowl and you’ve got this piece of kitchen decor ready to show off!
7. Incorporate Neutral Tones
For a subtle, yet expensive-looking kitchen, neutral tones throughout your kitchen countertop decor are your best friend. Use wooden tones with cutting boards, kitchen utensils, and picture frames. Then bring in whites and tans with oil dispensers, utensil holders, and other kitchen accessories.
Neutral colors are great to use, especially if you’re worried about cluttering up your kitchen counters. The light colors will perfectly blend into a light kitchen without feeling weighed down.
8. Less = More
Speaking of ensuring your kitchen decor doesn’t clutter, there’s no need to go overboard with countertop decor. When your decor gets in the way of doing what you’re supposed to do in a kitchen – cooking – then you know you’ve gone a little too far! 😅
Ensure you’re spacing out your decor and leaving counter space for cooking all of those yummy dishes!
9. Utilize Cute Coffee Machines
If you know me, there is little that I love more than my morning coffee lol. And you know what makes for amazing kitchen counter accessories ideas? That’s right – cute coffee makers!
When you’re searching on Pinterest for kitchen counter decorating ideas, you’re almost always going to see this Breville Espresso Machine. Why? Because it’s gorgeous and makes insanely good coffee. I think it’s very much welcomed in any and all kitchens haha.

If you have something truly unique – let it shine! Don’t extinguish it with a bunch of other decor. I’m sure you can find some incredibly unique finds while thrifting – my fav!
12. Candlesticks in the Kitchen
We’ve all seen candles in the kitchen, but what about candlesticks? If you’re looking for ideas for decorating kitchen counters that are different in the best way possible, this idea is for you!
If you have the space and the perfect placement, candlesticks are a great way to add height to your kitchen counter decor. They’re also going to give you a look that most are not going to have, which makes you the trendsetter for your friends and family! 😏
13. Layer Cutting Boards
One of my favorite ideas for styling a kitchen counter with decor is by layering wooden cutting boards. Use different shapes like in the idea above – a smaller rectangular cutting board in front of a large round cutting board.
Simply just lean them against your backsplash and you have some beautiful kitchen counter decor. Then complement it with other decor, as they did with this adorable little butter dish and terracotta planter.
14. Fresh Flowers Are a Game-Changer
Kitchens are all about freshness. A fresh clean space with fresh delicious food. So fresh flowers are only going to enhance the overall feeling of freshness.
Whether it’s kitchen island decor ideas or for any part of your kitchen counter, flowers are bound to make your kitchen a happy, homey kitchen. But if real flowers just don’t cut it (maybe due to allergies or the upkeep), faux flowers have just as big of an impact.
One of the best places to build faux arrangements of flowers is Afloral. All of their flowers and branches look extremely real.
15. Keep It Functional
When thinking about ideas for decorating kitchen counters, keep in mind that decor doesn’t have to be just decor. Decor can be functional too!
Between kitchen utensils on display, your favorite beautiful cutting board, olive oil, coffee makers… It can all be beautiful and functional!
16. Group Items Together
Grouping items together is a great way to get a full, purposeful look to your kitchen counter decor ideas. Here we see stacked coffee mugs, salt and pepper grinders, and a small plant to tie it all together.
Use one tray or pedestal as the home for your grouped decor. This will make everything look purposefully placed!
17. Books are Trendy
Get out those cookbooks you have crammed in the back of your cabinet. You’re missing out on some free kitchen counter decor ideas!
Place them on a wooden tray or cutting board, surrounded by other cute decor to make them feel like they belong.

A very trendy and stylish idea for decorating kitchen countertops is to elevate small decor with a wooden pedestal.
Take this coffee bar idea for example. They have a small vase with gold spoons, a cute container of spices, a piece of art, and a vase with faux sprigs. And it looks very nice!
19. Copper Accents Complete a Light Kitchen
We already said brass can accent a kitchen, but copper…😱 If you’re a regular here, you know that I LOVE copper accents in the kitchen. There’s something about the copper finish that just looks expensive, homey, and straight out of a cottage all at the same time.
Copper works in light kitchens and dark kitchens alike. So if brass isn’t your forte, copper may become your go-to accent finish!
