Bringing greenery from outside your home to the indoors makes any room feel a bit homier.
But no one said that greenery has to be real! 😏 Watch out, because faux trees are absolutely taking over in the home decor space – from faux fiddle-leaf fig trees to faux olive trees. AH, give me all of them lol!
Incorporating realistic indoor trees into your living room, foyer, or bedroom is actually pretty simple. The hardest part is just finding the perfect tree!
While there are SO many gorgeous faux trees to choose from, I’ve searched high and low for the best. Here are 12 of the best artificial trees for indoors that I could find, that look so realistic you may just accidentally water them! 😂

How to Make Artificial Trees Look Real
Now that we’ve taken a look at the best artificial trees for indoors, it’s time to turn our focus on how to make those trees look just a tad bit more real.
Not all trees need the extra love – for instance, I think the Threshold + Studio McGee brands do a fantastic job of making their faux trees look more realistic. The planters are nice, and all it takes is a little bit of fluffing or separating the branches upon arrival.
On the other hand, some trees come with super small, cheap planters. Simply changing out the planter for a nicer, bigger one can immediately make your fake tree look more expensive!
1. Fluff the Branches
To get the most realistic-looking faux tree, you’re going to need to fluff and spread out the branches & leaves upon arrival.
Your artificial tree is going to come in a box all smushed up – you won’t just find a box-free tree sprouting up on your front porch when delivered.
First, take the tree out of the box – some of them come pretty packaged up in there so be sure to grab the scissors and your patience lol.
Next, start to gently pull leaves and branches apart from each other. Faux trees have a little bit of give, so you can carefully spread branches and stems.
Doing this will automatically make the faux tree look a little fuller than when you first got it!
2. Buy a Nicer, Bigger Planter
If you’re not completely satisfied with how real your artificial tree looks at first – that’s okay!
It still has room to get better.
Buy a larger planter – almost anything is going to be better than the small plastic planter a lot of faux trees come with.
Here are some of my favorite planters!
When buying a bigger planter, you’re going to need to consider some additional filler. If you stick your faux tree in the new planter as is, you’re going to notice it probably sits too low, and there’s a lot of blank space.
To fill the majority of the planter, you can really use anything available to you! Packaging, newspapers, cardboard…really anything that’s going to get the planter mostly full.
Then on top of all of this “fluff” – buy some crafting moss or stones for the top layer.
Just remember when you go to buy a planter, make sure you measure the diameter of your current planter that came with your faux indoor tree. That way you know 100% it’ll fit into the new planter!
3. Make Sure Your Indoor Tree is the Right Height
The most popular size for an indoor faux tree is 72 inches tall, or 6 feet.
Any taller than that would really be considered a large artificial tree.
The issue is if you get too small of a tree for your room. For instance, a 72-inch tall tree will look great in most rooms. But let’s say you have vaulted ceilings, but you stick a 48-inch tall tree in the corner – it’s going to look prettyyy small!
But it really just depends on how you’re incorporating the faux tree into your space.
Just make sure that the height of your fake indoor tree is appropriate for your room!
Whether you are looking for the best fake tree for your living room, or looking to add a little bit of homey decor to the bedroom, you cannot go wrong with any of these trees.
Each room has its own unique design, which calls for its own unique faux tree. Just remember to go with something that is beautiful and something that you absolutely adore.
You’ll be so happy you chose to spruce up that corner with a little bit of (faux) nature!
