Collage of four stylish nightstands showcasing different designs: a modern black wooden nightstand with clean lines, a dark and moody nightstand with two drawers, a light wood nightstand with fluted accents on the front drawers and an open-shelf nightstand with a basket underneath, each offering unique bedroom decor ideas.

When it comes to nightstand decor ideas, you can style your nightstand in soooo many ways! And if you are wondering HOW to decorate a nightstand, my go-to is to always have a mixture of these elements on your nightstand:

  • Super cute nightstand
  • Lamp or sconce
  • Mirror
  • Artwork or picture frames
  • Large vases or plants
  • Books
  • Basket
  • Candle

This method keeps nightstand decor easy and allows you to play around with your individual style. If you want to see this method in action, check out these 5 SUPER cute cozy bedroom nightstand decor ideas!

Start With The Right Nightstand

The first step to decorating a cozy bedroom is to get a nightstand that you’ll absolutely love. Luckily for you, I wrote an entire post about the best nightstands all under $300 – you HAVE to check it out.

1. Add A Mirror Behind Your Nightstand

Nightstand decoration with a large mirror to make a bedroom feel spacious and stylish.

Adding a big mirror behind either side of your nightstand instantly makes your bedroom feel more spacious. You can either lean your statement mirror against the wall or hang one above your nightstand.

I love a tall mirror with a fun detail at the top just to add a bit of character to the space! This is slightly more elevated than the traditional rounded mirror trend we have been seeing recently – however, both are beautiful options.

Pair the mirror with a lamp and stack of small baskets just to balance it out and just like that—you have a super cozy nightstand corner!

2. Switch Out A Lamp For A Sconce

Bedside table decor with a wall-mounted sconce to create a minimalist and cozy bedroom.

A wall-mounted sconce feels elevated and intentional. This is one of my favorite tricks to free up a little nightstand space and keep your nightstand decor minimal. The most common way to create this look is to have one sconce on either side of the bed above each nightstand.

It’s perfect for the nighttime reader or someone who wants a moodier space! I will absolutely be adding sconces to our next bedroom remodel project! They’re just TOO pretty!

Choose a style that fits your vibe and don’t forget to grab a soft-white bulb for those warm, glowy vibes.

3. Incorporate Your Favorite Art

Decorating nightstands with artwork, plants, and candles for a personalized and cozy bedroom design.

Adding art to your nightstand is such a simple way to make your bedroom feel unique and personal to you.

Hang one large piece of artwork or stack two medium-sized pieces of artwork behind your nightstand for a gallery-inspired look. Pair this with a lamp and smaller textured decor like fresh greenery, a plant, or a good-smelling candle, and your art-inspired nightstand look is complete.

4. Have Fun With Layering

Layered nightstand decor ideas with books, artwork, and a decorative lamp to create a stylish, cozy bedroom.

The trick to a perfectly styled nightstand is always layers. Think smaller in the front and larger in the back.

Start with a base—maybe a stack of books or a pretty tray—then layer picture frames or smaller artwork behind it. Add a lamp or vase to the side to add some height. Then add your largest pieces of decor in the back, like a tall mirror or oversized art. To finish off the look, add the smallest pieces of decor in the front, like a super tiny ring holder or a small candle.

The best part about this look is that you can mix it up whenever you feel like it!

5. Keep The Decor Simple

And of course, sometimes less is more. Especially if you are someone who likes to just keep the essentials on your nightstand—like your favorite book, a calming candle, or your phone charger.

For this look, you can use the floor and wall space around your nightstand instead of cluttering the tabletop. I added a really cute floor lamp and a fun wall candlestick holder just to free up some space on the bedside table.

For the wallpaper, I chose ‘Luster’ as the Background and ‘Ceramic’ for both the Dots and Stripes from Love Vs Design. If this color palette doesn’t match your vision, don’t worry—they have so many stunning options to explore!

This nightstand look helps your space feel peaceful and cozy without feeling cluttered.

These nightstand decor ideas will help you create a cozy and stylish bedroom.

And there you have it—5 easy, super cute ways to style your nightstand in your bedroom. Which idea are you trying first?
