If your aesthetic is “omg that’s so cute!”, then you will absolutely love the home decor trend that has been everywhere on social recently: scallops!
The trend of incorporating scalloped elements in your design has been HUGE and I am all for it! I love adding interesting decor pieces to a space, especially when they are just a touch whimsical and a little bit feminine.
But how do you add these elements without going overboard? It’s a question I struggle with and I imagine you might too! When you love a trend, it’s tempting to add it everywhere but this trend is best done when it is subtle.
1. Experiment with small decor changes to embrace the scallop trend
Light green pillow covers | Petite Table Lamp | Gold picture frames | Woven rattan picture frames | Light blue pillow cover | Jute pillow | Linen black trim pillow cover | Dark green pillow cover | Coasters | White picture frame | Blue lamp
When you want to experiment with a new trend, starting with small changes is the way to go. Think pillows, picture frames, and lamps – these are items that you can swap out effortlessly if you decide you want to change up your design later on.
This method allows you to try out the trend without fully committing in case you end up not loving it. However, I doubt this will be the case and your love for scalloped decor will only grow (like mine has haha)!
Lamp | Ruffle bowl | Bar cart | Cocktail shaker
When I was styling my bar cart, I always knew I wanted to add a small table lamp to my cart. Adding a lamp is my first choice when I want a space to feel homier!
I love that just including a lamp in your decor can warm up your space and make it feel lived in.
And when I came across this adorable petite table lamp, I knew it was the one! It is simply gorgeous and I adore the scalloped lampshade. It adds so much character to my dining room.
2. Find cute accessories to add to your existing decor
Accessories are important to any well-designed space, and scalloped accessories? Simply gorgeous.
The cutest scalloped accessories are often the simplest – like trays, baskets, or shelves. Even though they are easy design elements to include, they can make a big statement.
If I had unlimited space (and funds) to decorate, I would buy every single one of these items. 😊
Rattan tray | Shelves | Cabinet pulls | Cabinet knobs | Round tray | Switch plates | Rattan bowl | Throw blanket | Basket | Trinket dish | Marble tray | Handle tray
Our kitchen originally had builder-grade nickel cabinet knobs and I wanted to upgrade them to something unique. When I came across these gold cabinet knobs with subtle scalloped detail, I knew they would be the perfect charming addition I was looking for.
I absolutely love the softness of the rounded edges and the delicate detail that these knobs bring to my white kitchen cabinets. If your cabinets are also in need of a hardware update, I would 100% recommend these!

3. Infuse scallops into your everyday essentials
Think bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen! These are the most lived-in rooms in your home and are the best places to add scallop detail.
From kitchen plates to bathroom towels, there are so many adorable scalloped options.
I love the idea of adding wavy detail to the items of your home that you use daily. You will get to enjoy these pieces so much more than just every once in a while.
Bath towels | Flower plates | Gray plates | Napkins | Bath mats | Scallop placemat | Bedding | Green headboard | Ruffle bowl | French scallop plates
I have been in love with the scallop/ruffle trend for a while now and one of the ways I have included it is in my kitchen. I use the ruffle bowl to store all my fruit and it doubles as part of my countertop decor.
4. Incorporate scalloped furniture to make a bigger impact
If you are fully obsessed with the scalloped life, I would suggest bringing it up a notch and committing to an adorable piece of furniture.
Mirror (similar) | Chair | Pillow | Gold calendar | Flower painting
Whether it is a statement rug, a big mirror, or a unique side table, these larger items can make a huge impact!
This might be my favorite way to add scallops into a space. If only every piece of furniture could include a hint of whimsy like this trend does. 😍
White curtains | Window pelmet | Scallop pendant light | White pendant light | Gold wave mirror | Round wood mirror | Wicker mirror | Accent chair | Black dining chair | Rug | Navy scallop curtains | Desk | Sconce | Side Table
5. Take the scalloped trend outside
Decorating with adorable scalloped pieces doesn’t have to stop inside your home. One of my absolute favorite ways to sprinkle in the scalloped detail is to bring it outside.
I don’t think you can get much cuter than a scalloped flower planter or woven border fencing for your mulch bed.
Ruffle pot | White and navy umbrella | Ceramic planter | Stone fluted planter pot | Welcome mat | Iron bargeboard | Votive holder stake | Large pot and saucer | Small pot and saucer | Outdoor pillows | Woven border fencing
This spring season, I have seen so many gorgeous aged pots while out shopping for landscaping supplies. And my favorite ones are the ones with the scalloped edges.
I know I mentioned earlier that the scalloped trend is best done subtly, however, I think your outdoor space is an exception to the rule. You can go all out in your landscaping if you want to!
I have fallen in love with all of the romantic cottage-inspired gardens on Pinterest where everything feels magical and whimsical (one day I’ll have a backyard like this haha).
But until then, I love the idea of adding these magical/whimsical scalloped outdoor pieces to my current backyard to help give it the same feel!
